Historically, Johnstown Colorado was a small Northern Colorado town located between Loveland and Greeley. In the early 2000s, some new housing developments were being built and people started moving to Johnstown as a more affordable option as compared to the rising home prices in Loveland and Fort Collins.
More recently, Johnstown took advantage of the growth in the area and annexed of the corner of I-25 and US Highway 34. Now the development in that area includes an iconic Scheels Sporting Goods Store, Hobby Lobby, Burlington, and other retail stores as well as many great restaurants such as Cheba Hut, Crumbl Cookie, Mod Pizza, Big Daddy’s Burger Bar, Cafe Mexicali and a lot more.
The original area around downtown Johnstown is also booming. A YMCA was recently built on the south side of downtown and residential neighborhoods are popping up everywhere. Along with this growth in residences, Johnstown is currently building a High School and additional elementary school building to keep up with the growing population all of the young families choosing to live in Johnstown.

Johnstown is still slightly less expensive to buy a home than nearby Loveland, Windsor or Fort Collins but it is growing into a great place for families. From the town of Johnstown, you have easy access to the Centerra Mall and all of the conveniences of Loveland, CO. You’re located right off of the interstate so going down to Denver for professional sporting events or concerts is easy. Johnstown has a low crime rate and is a quiet little town to raise your children. Also, the Northern Colorado job market is great. You could easily commute to Fort Collins, Greeley, Loveland, Longmont, Boulder or even Denver.
